Just for men

All of these guidelines apply to you. Do not be afraid to trim, trim, trim. Take a toothbrush and comb all
of your eyebrow hair upward; trim any long hairs that extend above the brow. Then brush all the hair down,
and trim any hair that sticks out below the brow. The unibrow is not attractive and can easily be taken care of
through waxing or tweezing. For more extensive fixes in the area of the forehead, brow, and eyes, see your
facial plastic surgeon.

ASK THE SURGEON
There seems to be so many options of fillers on the market. How do you know which one is right for you?
Injectable fillers, or soft-tissue fillers, can be used to plump up thin lips or to fill in creases and wrinkles around
the nose and lips. There are many factors that you and your physician will consider before deciding on the right one
for you. How long do you want the results to last? Fillers can last between a couple of months to two years, depending
on the substance. How much can you afford? The cost is based on the type of filler and how much is needed to smooth out the skin.
Collagen requires allergy testing and lasts three to five months.
Naturally modified hyaluronic acid fillers (Captique™, Restylane®, Hylaform®, and Hylaform Plus®)
last typically six months. Autologous fat extracted from the patient’s own body lasts from three to six months.
Radiance™ is an injectable filler that can last up to two years. Artecoll® is a permanent treatment that is pending
approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Your best bet is to research these options and discuss your
optimal plan with your physician.
HEALTH TIP
Are you looking for soft, supple skin? Take control by implementing the following tips.
Protect: Over exposure to the sun leads to hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and can also exaggerate
and thicken fine lines. Use sunblock or sunscreen with at least a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15.
Nourish: A healthy, balanced diet will keep your skin glowing. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin C
and E in your regimen.
Hydrate: Your skin relies on water to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and moisturize your skin twice a day.
Exercise: Stay in shape to promote healthy circulation, which provides oxygen to the tissues that help your
skin to look young.
Cleanse: As you age, your skin’s natural ability to slough off dead cells from the surface slows down.
Help to restore that healthy glow by cleaning your skin with a mild soap twice a day.

WHAT’S NEW?
Contour Thread Lift was just approved by the FDA. What does this mean for patients? There is a new,
minimally invasive option for improving sagging tissues of the face. Contour threads are the only non-absorbable
barbed suture product cleared by the FDA for the elevation and fixation of midface, brow, and neck areas.
These specifically designed sutures are fashioned from clear polypropylene, a material that has been used safely
for years. Physicians are enthusiastic about the innovation, however, caution remains until there is a record of
longevity and durability of results.
