Breast Augmentation Seattle WA – Saline and Silicone Implants
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure for women who want to enhance the size of their breasts. Enhancement surgery can be performed using different techniques. Most commonly an implant is used to add size to the breast. The implant can be filled with saline (salt water) or more commonly, silicone gel. Some patients are good candidates for a different type of enlargement technique, where fat is removed from unwanted areas of the body using liposuction and is then transferred to the breasts. A mastopexy can also be done in conjunction with enhancement surgery.
Healthy women who want to increase their bust size, as well as women who want to restore size that was lost after pregnancy, are candidates for augmentation surgery.
During your consultation with board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Hayes, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your goals. He’ll ask you about the look that you want to achieve. While at your visit you’ll be able to try on implants to see which size you like. Together with Dr. Hayes, an implant is selected that achieves your goals and fits your body.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a state-of-the-art Medicare certified operating room. You’re cared for by board-certified physician anesthesiologists from Swedish Hospital’s anesthesia group.
After the surgery Dr. Hayes stays in close contact with each patient to make sure that he’s available to answer any questions that may arise. Most patients can go out of the house the night of the surgery and are well on their way to beginning the recovery process and enjoying their new look.
Will I need a lift also?
A lift and augmentation are procedures that are commonly combined. An in-person examination is needed to determine whether you’d benefit from adding a lift to an augmentation surgery, but generally woman whose nipple lies below the crease (fold under the breast) will benefit from a lift. The incisions for a lift vary and can be placed around the areola, from the areola to the crease, and within the breast crease. Greater degrees of sagging (ptosis) require the use of one, or all three, incisions. During your consultation, Dr. Hayes will discuss whether adding a lift to your enlargement surgery would improve the shape of your breasts.
Can enhancement surgery be combined with other procedures?
Enlargement surgery can be combined with a variety of procedures.
Augmentation can be combined with an abdominoplasty, mastopexy, or liposuction procedures. The combination of enhancement and abdominoplasty is called a “mommy makeover.”
